It seems that the demand for the Freedom Bank prepaid cards has far exceeded expectations, with more than double the anticipated demand in April. This is probably because the card is free, but if you do consider getting one, read the pricing carefully. There is a monthly fee but you can avoid it by paying in $500 a month.
These cards are a good idea if you have a teen heading off to college and you want to pay them a monthly allownce. Owning a prepaid card prevents the risk of running up a credit card debt and teaches financial responsibility.
